Tsunami warning in Auckland after massive earthquake

Stay off beaches and shore areas. Do not go sightseeing.

This is the message by New Zealand civiil defense after they issued a tsunami warning. Luckily the time is 4.37 am in New Zealand.

The tsunami warning was lifted for the Upper south Island. The warning remains in place for East Coast of North Island.

Sirens were sounding in Auckland, New Zealand. Authorities warned the population about Tsunami activities. The alert is expected to continue for several hours in New Zealand after a 7.1 magnitude earthquake off New Zealand's East Cape.

The earthquake was felt all the way in Wellington.
Location of the quake was 66km NE of Gisborne, New Zealand.
